Earth Hour 2010 will be on March 27 8:30-9:30 pm. Please switch off your lights on that time and date to help in the global energy conservation campaign and global emissions reduction campaign. VOTE FOR MOTHER EARTH! Read more for registration details. JOIN THE EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS! Earth Day Celebrations The official date of Earth Day is April 22nd. However in the Philippines, Earth Day events are often scheduled on the weekends before or after Earth Day. Several NGO’s, LGU’s and businesses celebrate Earth Week, the week surrounding April 22nd, or even Earth Month – the entire month of April. Regardless of when you hold your celebration, remember that “Earth Day is Every Day for Everybody”. Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has declared April 22 as the “Philippines’ Earth Day” through Presidential Proclamation No. 1481 amending Presidential Proclamation Nos. 553 and 1276 making Earth Day a permanent environmental holiday in the Philippines. Finally, Earth Day is celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. More than a billion people participate in Earth Day activities each year. Earth Day 2010 Theme For Earth Day 2010, the General Assembly recognized that Climate Change is the most pressing issue for our country especially given the vulnerability of our country to its consequences as proven by our recent experiences with Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Moreover, it is considered the most pressing environmental issue that confronts the world at present. (This was validated by the Convenors during their meeting.) EDNP recognizes that addressing climate change and protecting the environment, requires both individual and collective action. Everyone has a role to play and can contribute to its solution.Hence, Earth Day Network Philippines and its partners launched the 10 Million Movement and agreed that, for Earth Day 2010, the National Theme will be: Hamon ng Panahon CLIMATE CHANGE 10 Milyung Solusyon (Kilos Na! Ngayon Na!) Together, we are stronger The strength of Earth Day is the diversity of people participating from different communities worldwide. In our experience, the best events are those in which organizers team up with others and take input from all players involved. This is why we are a network! To show our solidarity with the rest of the Network, we encourage everyone to use the Earth Day 2010 logo which can be downloaded from EDNPI’s website, www.earthdayphils.org, or you may request a high resolution jpeg copy from the Secretariat by emailing them at

Change Begins Within Us! Understanding that the Environment is not about the birds and the bees. It is about nothing less than Life itself, and the Sources of Life: Lupa, Araw, Hangin at Tubig (LAHAT). Let us also remember “Ang L.A.H.A.T. ng bagay ay magakaugnay!” People should begin to realize that the crisis of water depletion and contamination, air pollution and land degradation is the accumulated effect of or misuse and abuse of these Life-Sources. Symptomatic of this are the ongoing climate changes that threaten the existence and future of human life. Who may Enlist? Any Filipino who will commit to effect personal behavioral change such as, but not limited to:
